Peggy Attends Paley Center Event in Manhattan
..
..

......

The following is a description of the event held on October 10, 2009, as it appeared on the Paley Center for Media website:

Hallmark Hall of Fame: Hans Brinker, or the Silver Skates (1958)
.
No expense was spared in producing this live television musical (for which half of NBC’s television studio in Brooklyn was converted into a frozen Dutch canal), with music and lyrics by Hugh Martin, teleplay by Sally Benson, direction by Sidney Lumet, music direction by Franz Allers, choreography by John Butler and a first-rate cast including Tab Hunter, Peggy King, Olympic skating champion Dick Button, Basil Rathbone, Carmen Mathews, and opera star Jarmila Novotna. Hans Brinker was watched in 11.5 million homes, setting a viewership record for Hallmark Hall of Fame telecasts that remained unbroken for two decades. (1958; 90 minutes)
..
Panel Discussion in New York: This screening will be introduced by Bill Rudman, host of the Sirius XM On Broadway program On the Aisle. Following the screening, Mr. Rudman will interview Dick Button, Peggy King, Ellie Sommers, and other Hans Brinker cast and creative team members (to be announced).
.
Special thanks to The Musical Theater Project.

None of Peggy's male co-stars was able to attend the event, so only cast members Peggy King and Ellie Sommers joined host Bill Rudman. The panel discussion followed screening of a digitally enhanced kinescope of the original live production that took place at the Brooklyn studios of NBC television.

Besides meeting many old friends residing in and around New York City at the event, Peggy was delighted by the unexpected arrival at the Paley Center of her daughter-in-law Susan Rudofker and precocious granddaughter Haley, who had traveled from their home in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to attend.  We are grateful to Susan for contributing the pictures posted above, and we urge others who may have taken pictures during the event to pass them along to us for posting here as well.  Below are pictures and a review of the event at the Paley Center submitted by long-time Peggy King fan Herb Stark of Massapequa, Long Island.
